Claude has started building mini-applications right in the margins of your conversations. Anthropic rolled out a new capability that generates interactive charts, diagrams, and visualizations directly inside your chat window.
Ask Claude how compound interest works, and it builds a functional calculator with sliders. Ask how weight travels through a building, and you get an interactive structural model. Ask about the periodic table, and you get a navigable web app, right there in the UI. Claude automatically decides when a visual aid adds value, but you can explicitly prompt it to “build a tool” or “code a dashboard” as well.
Big AI continues to ship at a breathtaking rate. OpenAI recently launched Canvas for interactive math and science collaboration in ChatGPT, while Google Gemini continues to expand its Dynamic UI for educational data. Having tested them all, Anthropic’s implementation is the most “conversational.” The visuals are live code-based extensions of the dialogue that appear naturally without forcing you into a separate mode.
Now in beta, this interactive layer is live, free, and enabled by default for all users. It’s time to stop thinking in text and start thinking multi-modally!
