An NFT for the Holidays

In a move that may help drive adoption of its browser extension crypto wallet, Coinbase (the U.S.-based crypto exchange) announced that Coinbase Wallet has been upgraded to include support for NFTs (non-fungible tokens). As most of you know, my MetaMask crypto wallet was hacked on Sunday morning and drained of $400 worth of ETH. In the chronicle, which you can read here, I logged how quickly dozens of bots responded to my social media pleas for help. The content (from obvious bots or hackers with good social listening tools) generally pointed me to Instagram accounts or linked me to people who could "help me" get my crypto back. MetaMask Hacked
My MetaMask Chrome Extension Wallet was hacked. The ETH is gone forever. Even though I can clearly see that address of the wallet that stole it, there's nothing I can do to get it back. I'm just writing this blog post as a warning for anyone who thinks keeping more than a few hundred dollars in a "hot wallet" is a good idea. I always keep a small amount of ETH in my MetaMask wallet to buy virtual goods and NFTs and game tokens, etc. I have been aware that the wallet was vulnerable to attack, but this hack is remarkable.
