Verizon Will Launch LTE Network November 15

July 21, 2010 – Today’s most interesting stories in technology, media and entertainment:

Verizon will launch its new LTE network on November 15th with two new 4G data cards. You’ll get super fast wireless access in 30 markets, including New York, LA and Chicago. LTE is an abbreviation for Long Term Evolution, in case someone asks you.

Is the iPad ready to replace the Mac? Possibly. In its first quarter on the market the tablet computer sold 3.27 million units, a remarkable number considering Apple sold 3.47 million Mac computers, and it was the highest sales period for Mac’s ever. A clear sign of the rise of the tablet, or just a strong debut? We’ll know soon enough.

The new 4GB Xbox 360 will ship on August 3rd for $199 and Microsoft plans to bundle it with its new Kinect motion-sensing controller for just $299. No word on an official on sale date, but you can bet they’ll be available this holiday season.

Google is beefing up its Energy initiative. The company just purchased 20 years worth of wind energy from a wind farm in Iowa, investing over $38 million in wind energy this year. Google will use the wind energy to power its data centers, and could eventually sell it to the public since it was granted permission to buy and sell power last winter.

Just as Sony unveiled new 3-D cameras, Samsung is upping the ante by making 3-D TV’s more affordable. Samsung annonctwo new 3-D HDTV’s, including the PN50C680 which can broadcast in 1080p and features DLNA capabilities. Analysts also believe it could be the first 3-D TV to cost less than $1000, a major factor in bring 3-D TV to the mainstream.
