EBAY (NASD: EBAY) has been fined $63.2 million for selling counterfeit Louis Vuitton items on the web. In addition to fining eBay, the judge ruled that eBay was guilty of unauthorized sales of fragrances, whose distribution is limited to authorized dealers and stores. The decision will likely force eBay to begin blocking counterfeit goods.
LIVE NATION (NYSE: LYV.N) will sign singer Shakira to a $70 million all inclusive deal. The deal comes just days after a boardroom brawl which sent Michael Cohl packing. In Shakira, Live Nation gets an international star whose numbers are much higher around the globe than in the US, while reassuring employees that 360 deals are advantageous for the promoter.
SAG’s contract has officially expired. The contract expired at midnight, however, the AMPTP made a late night offer, which SAG has decided to mull over for a day. Meanwhile, film production has been “virtually shut down”.
ROCK BAND 2 will debut exclusively on MICROSOFT’S (NASD: MSFT) Xbox this September. The second edition of HARMONIX (NYSE: VIA) , ELECTRONIC ARTS (NASDL ERTS.O) and MTV’s (NYSE: VIA) interactive game will include more instruments and more songs. Rock Band 2 will predate rival Guitar Hero’s new offering by months.
