NIELSEN is requesting logs of commercial advertising from cable networks. Nielsen plans to begin rating commercials this fall, but this move suggests that it may be having difficulty implementing the new system.

DAILYMOTION will start filtering content using fingerprinting technology supplied by Audible Magic Corp. The software will analyze the audio track of videos, and compare them with videos stored in a database of content supplied by major content owners. GE, NEWS CORP., and VIACOM will all submit content for the database.

FACEBOOK is launching free classified ads. Named Marketplace, the service will list available jobs, real estate, and merchandise – offering yet another challenge to newspaper classifieds.

NBC DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT will produce a behind-the-scenes web series for Heroes. The series is intended to keep fans interested in the show during the summer break.

INFONETICS projects that there will be 46 million mobile video users by 2010.
