NewsCorp and OpenAI Strike a Deal

NewsCorp and OpenAI have announced a multi-year partnership that will enable OpenAI to access NewsCorp’s vast array of content, including articles from prestigious publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Times, and The Sunday Times. It will also enable OpenAI to enhance the capabilities of ChatGPT, ensuring more accurate and contextually-relevant responses. According to sources, the deal could be worth more than $250 million in cash and credits over five years.

Robert Thomson, CEO of NewsCorp, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership, saying, “This alliance with OpenAI underscores our commitment to innovation and our belief in the potential of AI to transform media.” Thomson emphasized that the collaboration would not only benefit OpenAI but would also provide NewsCorp with valuable insights into AI-driven content optimization.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, echoed these sentiments, noting that the partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to develop and promote safe AI: “By incorporating high-quality journalistic content from NewsCorp, we can significantly enhance the reliability and richness of ChatGPT’s outputs.”

Reddit last week, NewsCorp this week. They used to say, “One is an anomaly, two is a coincidence, three is a trend.” Who will be third? BTW, four is a business model.
