I’m thrilled to announce the public beta launch of Metacademy: a free-to-use, risk-free, hands-on website that will teach you about blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFTs, smart contracts, Web3, and other associated technologies. You’ll learn about the world of Web3, decentralized finance (DeFi), the correct way to set up a crypto wallet, how to mint your own NFTs, and how to buy and sell them.
After you get a solid handle on cryptocurrency and the emerging world of DeFi, you’ll learn the difference between Web2 and Web3 sites, explore the metaverse and its underlying technologies, and learn how to collect data and use decentralized data.
Free-to-Use and Risk-Free
Metacademy is offered completely free of charge. It is also risk-free because you’ll be using “test crypto” (designed for risk-free educational purposes with no cost to you) to do all of the coursework.
Earn While You Learn
We’ve tried to make this journey simple, informative, educational, fun, and rewarding. As you finish each section, you’ll be rewarded with badges and NFTs that you can redeem for real-world value. Metacademy is an “earn while you learn” platform designed to help you apply the new Web3 “engage to earn” paradigm to your own projects.
Share in the Value You Create
Web3 will empower creators and users to share in the value they create. This is the magic of Web3. During your Metacademy experience, you’ll create value for yourself in the form of new knowledge that you can use to enhance your business or create new businesses.
As you engage in Metacademy, you will be rewarded with badges, NFTs, and opportunities to meet others who share your interest in new forms of value creation. You will gain access to new communities of interest, communities of practice, and communities of passion, and you will acquire onchain NFTs that you can sell or trade.
The Web3 Value Exchange
How is this value exchange different from current advertising and marketing paradigms or different from your normal job? After all, you have been translating the value of your intellectual property to wealth through every job you’ve ever had. We all have. We’re so used to renting our brains to our employers that it’s hard to wrap our brains around new organizational principles. But this is the promise of Web3 and what the metaverse can evolve into.
Metacademy will help you dig into the foundational principles of Web3 and DeFi. You’ll learn how these technologies will democratize finance as profoundly as the personal computer democratized information. Looking at the Apple II+ or the first IBM-PC, could any of us have imagined the impact that technology would have just 40 years later?
Web3 won’t evolve along a predictable path, but it is sure to change the way we think about data ownership, money, and the creation and transfer of value.
