ASUS – TAICHI, Transformer Book and More

Asus

Taking its name from Pegasus, the winged horse in Greek mythology that symbolizes wisdom and knowledge, ASUS Computer International embodies that mythical creature’s adventurous spirit and soars to new heights with each new product it creates.

Starting out as a company, comprised of a handful of employees that only made motherboards, ASUS is now the leading technology company in Taiwan and makes products in almost every conceivable category of information technology, like PC components and peripherals, notebooks, tablets, servers and smartphones.

Whenever you look at a product like 2011’s ASUS Transformer, which featured a click-in keyboard over a year before Microsoft unveiled their Surface tablet’s similar capability, you realize just how ahead of the curve ASUS is. They’ve once again leap-frogged their competition with the unveiling of dual-purpose mobile devices like the TAICHI and Transformer Book.

What are these futuristic tech gadgets? The TAICHI is an Ultrabook with a two-sided display, which lets it be used as a tablet when the lid is closed. Pretty sweet. The Transformer Book is a tablet that can be docked to a keyboard for instant transformation into an Ultrabook, making it a logical next step from the previously mentioned Transformer tablet… not to mention the fact that it’s an awesome and helpful next step as well.

You’re probably familiar with their products already, like their extensive notebook line. So instead of telling you about specs or features, why not take a look at where these laptops have been? ASUS notebooks were taken on a 600-day space mission and experienced zero defects while aboard the MIR Space Station. Not bad, right? Or how about the fact that ASUS notebooks were the first to reach the top of Mount Everest, as a team of mountaineers were able to use these notebooks at a base camp with an elevation of 5,000 meters, where other laptops failed to boot up because of cold temperatures. Not only have they reached great heights, but also the ends of the earth: ASUS notebooks have been used to conquer both the North and South Poles.

With ASUS products marking their territory all across the globe – and even into outer space – it only makes sense for them to make a splash in your home as well.
