A recent study finds that spending too much time on Facebook could be creating narcissistic and psychologically damaged teenagers. The research did find positive results from using Facebook, including teens more easily displaying empathy online. Psychologists suggest talking to your kids about their use instead of spying on their habits. In other news, the downgrade of the U.S. credit rating has sent tech-stocks plummeting below their initial public offerings. Companies like LinkedIn and Pandora have had its shares drop as much as 10% since last week. Will this be the end of vague multibillion-dollar valuations on tech companies? Probably not. And finally, the paper receipt may be finding its place in obsolescence next to snail mail. More and more major retailers including Kmart, Sears and Gap are offering emailed versions of receipts in an attempt to cut down on waste. A switch to e-receipts would save millions of tress and dollars.
