Security Expert, Hemu Nigam

This week on Shelly Palmer Digital Living, we talk online security with expert Hemu Nigam, co-chair of President Obama’s Online Safety Technology Working Group. We chat with Motorola’s Christa Smith and Rick Hartwig about their new tablet, the Motorola Xoom. Our cool website this week is Contxts.com and we’ll chat with its founder Danny Newman about how his website makes business cards a thing of the past.

Want to chat with me or my guests during the show? Text “spdl” to the number 50500 and we’ll send you all the information.

Contxts.com

Contxts.com is an awesome website that lets you share contact information via text message. Have you ever met someone at a gathering and forgot your business cards at home? All they need to do is send a text message to the number 50500 with your Contxts’ username. Contxts.com will immediately send the person any information you’ve filled out online. Your contact information is private and contxts.com lets you view everyone who has requested it.

Motorola Xoom

The Motorola Xoom is the first real iPad competitor running Google’s Android operating system. We had a chance to get our hands on a review unit and are going to tell you everything you need to know about the tablet. We’ll chat with Motorola’s Christa Smith and Rick Hartwig and take your calls and questions about the Xoom. Want more information?

Online Security

We’re talking online security with Hemu Nigam, co-chair of President Obama’s Online Safety Technology Working Group. What steps are the government taking to ensure consumer protection online? How can parents help confront cyber-bullying?

Senator Chuck Schumer is pushing for big websites to use secure transfer protocols. Should the government step in and require websites that collect our personal information to use HTTPS–the secure protocol?
