Apple’s App Store recently hit a milestone of 10 billion downloads. The store has grown to over 350,000 free and paid apps with over 5 billion downloaded since last June. Apple gave the user who downloaded the 10 billionth app a $10,000 gift card to the App Store. In other news, internal documents leaked from Best Buy reveal a February 17th launch date for the Motorola Xoom. The Android Honeycomb tablet will cost $700 dollars and promises 32GB of onboard storage, a 10.1” screen and a 1Ghz dual-core processor. It will be available from Verizon, with a Wi-Fi only version expected later this year. And finally, Representative Gabrielle Giffords, recovering victim of the tragic shootings in Tuscon is using an iPad during rehabilitation. The tablet has become a valuable tool for recovering patients, helping those with affected motor and cognitive skills. The iPad has previously been used successfully in therapy for autistic children and has certainly found many more uses beyond Angry Birds.
