The film about the founding of Facebook, “The Social Network,” opened this weekend. The film topped the box office with $23 million in ticket sales. Directed by David Fincher, “The Social Network” has received mostly positive reviews and some early Oscar-buzz.
Iran Makes Stuxnet Arrests
Iran’s intelligence minister, Heydar Moslehi, announced that the Iranian government has arrested a number of spies connected to the deployment of the Stuxnet worm that attacked computers in Iran’s nuclear program. Mr. Moslehi did not comment on how many people were arrested, nor have the arrests been independently verified.
NFL Games Coming To Tablet Computers
Verizon has made a $720 million, exclusive mobile deal with the NFL. The two companies are working to deliver NFL games to tablet devices, but are still figuring out how to package and deliver the games. While DirecTV currently offers the NFL Sunday Ticket-To-Go, the Verizon deal offers an alternative to people in rural areas without access to satellite.
U.S. Cyber Command Not Ready
The Defense Department announced that Cyber Command, responsible for protecting U.S. military networks, did not achieve its October 1st deadline for being fully operational. Cyber Command is an offensive shield built to protect 15,000 U.S. military networks. According to Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn, there are over 100 foreign intelligence organizations currently trying to hack into U.S. networks and some are already in a position to cause damage.
