Increased Computer Usage Not Bad For Kids
Kids do not suffer academically from spending more time on the computer, according to a study from the University of Maryland. The study followed 1,000 children over six years and found that there was not a significant correlation between academic performance and test scores. However, the study ended in 2003 prior to the formation of social networking sites like Facebook, which could have an impact on results today.

Nokia Dominates Mobile Ads
Nokia may be struggling to maintain their spot as the number one mobile phone manufacturer, but when it comes to mobile ads Nokia has the competition beat. A survey from InMobi showed that Nokia is dominating the global mobile advertising market, and is responsible for almost 50 percent of all ad impressions. Nokia served nearly 10 billion ad impressions in July, Apple came in second with 1.6 billion impressions and the Android OS came in with only 711 million impressions.

Flickr Hits 5 Billion Photos
The photo-sharing site Flickr now hosts over 5 billion photos. Yahoo, the company who owns the site, says there are over 3,000 images uploaded to the site each minute. The five billionth photo features the Woodwards Collage in Vancouver, B.C.

People Feel Unsafe Driving
The majority of people feel unsafe while driving, says a new report from AAA, and 82 percent of people think that text messaging or checking emails while driving is a serious threat to their safety. However, many of the people who feel unsafe by the use of mobile devices in cars are the same people who commit the offense. The good news? The survey found that 80 percent of people would support a law that banned texting while driving.
