A girl convicted of killing her boyfriend while drunk driving is getting a harsher sentence due to Facebook. Ashley Sullivan, a seventeen year old from New York State, plead guilty to negligent homicide and DWI after crashing her car and killing her boyfriend. However, Sullivan was going to be charged as a minor until the judge found pictures the teenager posted on Facebook partying in Florida. Sullivan had uploaded a photo book to the social network called “Drunk in Florida,” and was subsequently sentenced as an adult. Don’t drink and drive, but if you are stupid enough to do that, don’t post even more remarkably stupid pictures of yourself drunk on Facebook.
AT&T is finally admitting that its 3G service isn’t up to par. In an earnings report, the wireless provider noted that its popular 3G service in both San Francisco and New York City fell below their “performance objective.” However, AT&T did not that it is investing $2 billion into its wireless infrastructure to improve its service, a must as it prepares for the launch of the iPad.
With the arrival of the iPad on the horizon, Apple and AT&T have paved the way for VoIP calls over the 3G network. Previously making phone calls on the iPhone through a VoIP app like Skype, Vonage or Google Voice was possible, but only through a WiFi connection. The recent development, and launch of a new application called iCall now allows users to make cheap phone calls on the 3G network.
