NBCU has reached a deal with NIELSEN to develop sales metrics via Nielsen’s Fusion product. Through Fusion, NBCU will be able to relate advertisers to specific viewing habits. The goal is to accurately analyze metrics in hopes of creating “high-value consumers for advertisers.”

Court documents reveal that YAHOO (NASD: YHOO) rejected an offer of $40/share from MICROSOFT (NASD: MSFT) fifteen months ago. The details emerged via an unsealed complaint in a lawsuit between shareholders and Yahoo. News of the offer comes a month after Yahoo rejected a $33/share offer, under the guise that their stock was worth at least $37.

MICROSOFT (NASD: MSFT) has reached a deal with HEWLETT-PACKARD (NYSE: HPQ) to offer its Live Search tool bar as part of new PC’s. The deal, which would place Microsoft’s recently launched search engine on all new models from the worlds largest PC manufacturer, is another attempt at disrupting GOOGLE’s (NASD:GOOG) search dominance. The new deal, to be implemented in January 2009, would replace a standing deal with YAHOO.

FACEBOOK is making its code open-source. The social network which rolled out open-source third party applications a year ago, has decided to make a “significant part” of its code available to developers, who will be able to manipulate the code and provide feedback. The move is a way for Facebook to warm the hearts of developers, while also keeping up with GOOGLE (NASD:GOOG), whose Open Social platform also targets developers.

TIME WARNER CABLE (NYSE: TWC) is developing a wireless cable modem capable of bringing viral video to the television. The modem, which will allow users to build a wireless network in their home, will be able to directly access the Internet on any television set with the box set up. While web-to-TV technology is still in its early stages, similar models are offered by APPLE’s (NASD:AAPL) AppleTV and TiVo (NASD:TIVO), however, neither are capable of surfing for Web videos, which the Time Warner Cable box would be able to do.
