Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey’s startup, Square, looks to change the way businesses keep track of sales. The company’s new program called Register will allow merchants to keep track of inventory and access analytics from an iPad. Greenpeace released a study that analyzed the energy efficiency of tech companies’ data centers. Apple and Facebook received very poor scores for relying heavily on coal-generated electricity, while Twitter failed across the board. The NY Times and url shortening service bit.ly have launched a news aggregator app for the ipad called News.me. Unlike other aggregators, News.me uses artificial intelligence to discover news for you based heavily on your Twitter account activity. The app costs 99 cents a week or $34.99 for the year. Twitter finally launched a new way to sort through its sea of tweets with interest-based search. You can now search within a category and Twitter will return relevant accounts based on their tweets.
