DigiTimes.com reports that Amazon placed an order with Taiwan-based notebook manufacturer Quanta Computer for tablet PC parts. Quanta expects the product to start being shipped in the second half of 2011, producing about 750,000 units monthly. A recent poll measured consumers’ perceptions of major companies and the tech industry ranked the highest. In the top ten were Google, Apple, Intel and Amazon.com, with high marks in social responsibility and workplace environment. Location Tracking
Apple and Google are set to testify at a Congressional hearing about location-based tracking concerns. Senator Al Franken who chairs the Senate privacy panel called for the hearing, stating that federal law has not kept up with technology.
