Samsung has been rumored to be working on wearable glasses similar to Google Glass, supposedly under the Gear Glass name, and according to a report from The Korea Times, Samsung will unveil Gear Glass this year at IFA in September. According to the report, the smart glasses are tentatively called “Galaxy Glass” – a Samsung official recently said that the company isn’t that interested in smart glasses at the moment as it wants to make wearable devices that “provide information at a glance without turning the people using them into cyborgs,” but the report and Samsung’s recent patent application for smart glasses suggest the company will join the smart glass market sooner or later. According to an unnamed official, “the new smart glass to be introduced by Samsung is a new concept of wearable device that can lead to an exciting culture of communication.
