McDonald'sWith more and more public places in China getting free Wi-Fi as part of the government’s efforts to promote Internet usage, McDonald’s is also jumping onto the bandwagon to attract customers. Sina Tech reports that by next year, more than 1,400 McDonald’s restaurants across China will have free Wi-Fi access. As of now, several McDonald’s restaurants in Shanghai already give their diners free Wi-Fi access with download speeds of up to 2.0 Mb/s. It remains to be seen whether McDonald’s can attract more customers at its restaurants simply by offering free Wi-Fi, but what can’t be denied is that the ubiquitous fast-food chain has added a lot more convenience for users in the world’s largest smartphone market — where data can be expensive.
