Apple has placed orders for roughly 10 million iPad mini units for the fourth quarter of 2012, unnamed sources have told the Wall Street Journal. The Journal also notes that Asian component suppliers say the volume of iPad mini orders they’ve received for Q4 is “roughly double the order that were placed for Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets in the same quarter.” The latest rumors suggest that Apple will send out invitations for the iPad mini launch event on Wednesday, October 10th.
