Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis announced that they would both step down as co-chairmen and co-CEOs of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion. The two are responsible for bringing the BlackBerry to market and making it a staple of the business world. RIM’s COO Thorsten Heins will take over as the new chief executive.
