FCC Launching Nationwide Text Alert System


The FCC announced the Personal Localized Alerting Network, which enables the government to send nationwide text messages. The service will only be used for Presidential messages, imminent safety concerns and Amber alerts. It rolls out in New York City by the end of the year and nationwide soon after.
