NAB unveiled prototypes of two digital-to-analog convertors made by LG and Thomson. The association also announced an upcoming public service campaign intended to educate consumers about the rapidly-approaching shutdown of the analog spectrum.

NBCU will release widgets for its major news and entertainment properties, enabling users to syndicate its content across blogs and social-networking sites. Widgets will be available for Meet the Press, DotComedy, NBC Sports, and more.

NIELSEN will begin a new service to track mobile media consumption. Nielsen Wireless
will launch its first product, Mobile Vector, in July. It will report on media behavior and audience demographics segmented by wireless carrier.

SPRINT NEXTEL will begin a new mobile search service today that uses GPS to help shoppers locate products and services in their immediate vicinity. The service, called Slifter, formerly required users to type in a zip code for searching.

PLUS: CBS picks up another web property. It purchased TicketReserve, an online ticket marketplace. And COCA-COLA gets in the game with Sprite Yard, a branded social-networking community for cellphone users.
