Walmart in the Metaverse

According to CNBC, Walmart plans to create its own cryptocurrency as well as a collection of NFTs. The big-box retailer filed for several new trademarks that indicate its intent to make and sell virtual goods, as well as to create its own cryptocurrency and NFTs.

For those of you who keep asking me why I am spending so much time covering Web3, crypto, NFTs, and the underlying technologies, Walmart said it is “continuously exploring how emerging technologies may shape future shopping experiences.”
