Google’s home page is the world’s number one visited website. That also makes it the number one place in the world to advertise. Despite this, Google is usually kind enough to leave its home page blank and uncomplicated save for the search bar and a Google Doodle.  That’s why on Tuesday the web took notice when an ad for Google’s Nexus 7 tablet appeared on the page. The ad showed an animated tablet popping out underneath the search bar and then settling into a pocket in the page with the caption “the playground is open. The company has put up ads for its products before, but it’s a rare move.  The ad indicates that Google is putting all its might behind the Nexus 7 ahead of the probable release of a new Kindle and the first 7-inch tablet from Apple this fall. Google has nothing to worry about so far though – analytics predict that it will sell 8 million tablets by the end of 2012.
