The Comcast and NBC merger has finally been approved. The FCC was cautionary, stating that such a deal could threaten “the development of innovative online video distribution services.” Comcast will lose its management rights of Hulu and neither company can restrict “unreasonable” online distribution of its video. In other news, Apple just reported their best ever quarter, citing revenue of $26.7 billion. A profit of $6 billion set a new record for Apple, along with the sale of 7.3 million iPads and 16.2 million iPhones. With the Verizon iPhone and iPad 2 around the corner, Apple won’t be resting any time soon. And finally, Kaplan Test Prep questioned over 2,000 students and found that 61% are Facebook friends with their parents. 38% of the students simply ignored the requests, but a large majority admitted high parent involvement in their academic lives. Facebook is now a cornerstone for connecting the new generation and parents want to see those status updates.
