36% of TV Stations Make Digital Transition: MediaBytes with Shelly Palmer February 17, 2009

421 television stations are set to switch to digital television today. In total, 641 television stations, roughly 36% of stations, will have already made the switch, despite the government mandated delay. The FCC granted all 10 stations who pleaded financial hardship the ability to make the transition.

Twitter, the micro-bloggin social network, recently raised an additional $35 million in VC funding. Despite a lack of a business plan and the state of the economy, Twitter received a large injection of cash from Benchmark Capital and Institutional Venture Partners, as well as Union Square Ventures and Spark Capital.

Microsoft unveiled its latest Mobile Operating System update.The new Windows Mobile OS includes touchscreen interface, an application store, and cloud syncing capabilities. The new Windows Mobile will appear in handsets by LG, HTC and Orange.

Liberty Media is set to offer Sirius XM a $250 million ‘rescue’ loan. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sirius and Liberty will announce the deal this morning.

A change in Facebook’s terms of service has caused concern on the behalf of users. The latest update to Facebook’s terms of service deleted a portion that gave users the right to remove content at any time, while a new provision said the social network could keep content and licenses after an account was terminated. Despite complaints, CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted that the idea “that people own their information and control who they share it with has remained constant.”
