VERIZON is beginning to bring web video to the television set. Verizon has begun testing the service, available through FiOS, in more than a million homes. Verizon will offer YouTube, Break.com, Blip.TV and Veoh through its FiOS VOD system.

INTEL is set to offer new chip technology designed specifically for high-end graphics displayed in video games and animated media. The chips, code named Larrabee, will have 12 to 48 electronic brains and will be available in late 2009. The new chips show Intel is gunning for NVIDIA and AMD.

AMAZON has sold 240,000 Kindle’s. The Kindle, which debuted in the Fall with a cost of $399, may have generated $96 million dollars for Amazon. Amazon’s next step is to offer a Kindle aimed at college students, PDwhich would electronically reinterpret text books.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly announced a web video initiative to help solve everyday crimes. Police Commissioner Kelly is encouraging users to upload clips and images that may help in the investigation of crimes. Kelly said “everybody has a camera in their telephones. When people can record an event taking place that helps us during an investigation, it’s helpful.”
