Google has hired networking expert, Milo Medin, as vice president of access services. The move comes with a push for the completion of Google’s own high-speed fiber network that will be ready for trial in select communities early next year. Boasting Internet speeds up to 100 times faster than current fiber networks, Medin can help make this fantasy a reality. In other news, Twitter just received another round of financing, totaling $200 million, bringing their value to $3.9 billion. While not currently monetized, Twitter’s valuation is directly related to its value as a social graph, representing moods and trends of 8% of total Internet traffic. And Finally, there are rumors that YouTube plans to acquire the production company Next New Networks, who is responsible for some of YouTube’s most watched videos. They have brought us cinematic masterpieces like “Hide Your Wife, Hide Your Kids,” yep, Fred Siebert is a genius!
