e-Reader Wars In Full Swing

June 22, 2010 – Today’s most interesting stories in technology, media and entertainment:

FiOS Without A Contract: Verizon is now offering its FiOS service without a contract. In fact, you can pay month-to-month if you like with no termination fee Why? Remember those negative ads from cable companies saying that Verizon locks you into a contract with nasty termination fees? Problem solved.

A New Cheap Nook: Barnes and Noble announced a new $149 Nook with WiFi. It will also market a 3G version for $199. Not to be outdone, Amazon lowered the price of its Kindle e-reader to $189. You gotta love the e-reader wars!

iOS Launches: Apple’s new iPhone/iPad/iPod operating system, iOS, is live and free for everyone. But, before you get too excited, some of the best new features are only available for the iPhone 3GS and the new iPhone 4. Sorry original iPhone users … you’re out of luck. Not only will the original iPhone not support iOs, it won’t support any apps developed for it. Time to upgrade.
