FCC Chairman Kevin Martin ruled that COMCAST (NASD: CMCSA) illegally blocked specific file transfers earlier in the year. Martin wants Comcast to stop blocking traffic, reveal how often they blocked file transfers and disclose its future plans for its network. This is the first time an ISP has been slapped with a citation for violating the FCC’s open access rules.

AT&T (NYSE: T) and AOL (NYSE: TXW) have followed VERIZON (NYSE: VZ), SPRINT (NYSE: S) and TIME WARNER CABLE (NYSE: TWC) in blocking access to newsgroups that post child pornography. The agreement is another victory for ANDREW CUOMO, who insists that ISP’s have neglected to eliminate child pornography from their networks. While the agreements greatly affect newsgroups, the deal does nothing to counteract child pornography on sites that use third-party servers to host their content.

APPLE (NASD: AAPL) released the new 3G iPhone today. Apple is hoping that the cheaper, faster mobile device, which actually costs more in the long run, will sell 10 million units in 2008.

In other APPLE news, the DEPARTMENT of JUSTICE has dropped its investigation into whether or not Apple was backdating stock options to make itself seem healthier than it really was. Apple was one of 200 companies involved in the DoJ investigation.
