ChatGPT? That will be $2,400 please.

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Pro, a premium subscription priced at $200 per month. It’s probably not for you. For $2,400 per year, power users and researchers (who require advanced AI capabilities) will get unlimited access to OpenAI’s latest models, including o1, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice Mode. Notably, it features an exclusive o1 pro mode, utilizing enhanced computational resources to address complex queries in fields such as mathematics, science, and programming.

The o1 model, now fully released, delivers faster and more accurate responses compared to its preview version, o1-preview. OpenAI says that o1 Pro (the version you get for $2,400/year) excels in coding, mathematical problem-solving, and scientific reasoning, and it can process image inputs (which the previous version couldn’t do). OpenAI also plans to augment its functionality with web browsing and file upload features in the future.

This is all part of Sam Altman’s “12 days of shipmas” announcement plan. This is only day two, and I’m wondering what other holiday nuggets OpenAI is going to bring us. For those of you on the $20/month ChatGPT plus plan, don’t worry – it doesn’t matter if you’ve been naughty or nice, SantaSamA is going to let you keep it.
