Google Unveils Learn About AI: A Step Beyond Traditional Chatbots

Google has introduced a new AI tool, “Learn About,” aimed at transforming education through interactive and visually enhanced responses. Learn About distinguishes itself from existing chatbots like Gemini and ChatGPT by providing textbook-style educational content designed to enhance learning experiences.

As a test (and for a little bit of fun), I prompted Learn About and Gemini with the same prompt: “Tell me about Barry Harris Scale Rules.” It’s an eclectic topic, but why make it easy? Gemini threw an error message: “I can’t help with responses on elections and political figures right now.” Completely wrong in every way. However, Learn About gave me a multimedia lesson in the music theory behind Barry Harris’s scale rules including links to videos, text boxes with important points, and a graphical layout that looked like a well-designed online textbook.

Google states that Learn About is “grounded in educational research and tailored to how people learn,” which is evident in its ability to deliver complex concepts in an accessible format. I did a few other tests and was equally impressed with the results. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.
