Now It’s a Party!

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the company (formerly known as Facebook) is jumping into the generative AI game with its own large language model, LLaMA (Large Language Model Meta AI): a state-of-the-art foundational large language model designed to help researchers advance their work in this subfield of AI.

Now it’s a party! All of the big players are in the house. Large language models underpin applications such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing AI, and Google’s (unreleased) Bard.

As a reminder, large language models (LLMs) are deep learning algorithms that can recognize, summarize, translate, predict, and generate text and other content based on knowledge gained from massive datasets. (That’s why they call them “large.”)

With every major player in the game – and hundreds of minor players doing everything they can to cut through the clutter – the big winners will be us! Assuming, of course, that we are smart enough to put LLMs and generative AI to good use.
