Billions for Broadband

The new infrastructure bill includes as much public money as we’ve ever seen allocated to improve our national broadband capabilities. The bill earmarks $65 billion to improve high-speed internet access and close the digital divide. State broadband projects will get $42.5 billion of it, then $14.2 billion goes to affordable broadband subsidies and $2.75 billion will be used for improving digital literacy. There are smaller allocations that get less and less interesting as you keep reading the bill.

We are becoming more technologically dependent every day. Let’s hope this investment of our tax dollars is used wisely.
