Is Cable Cooked?

Here’s a question consumers are asking themselves: Why spend $50/month for 140 channels of basic cable when you can cut the cord and stream the stuff you really want for less than half the price? The math is easy. Grab annual subscriptions to Peacock, CBS All Access, and Discovery Plus, and you’ll have over 90 percent of a basic cable package for about $18/month. (If you’re more into sports than home shows, substitute ESPN+ for Discovery Plus.) Either way, the savings are real, and (in many cases) the experience is better because most basic cable packages don’t broadcast any video in 4K.
