Samsung’s newest flagship phone, the Galaxy S5, has been on store shelves for a few weeks. But is it worth your money? It’s a very nice smartphone with excellent features, but it’s more of an enhanced version of the S4 than a new “rock the house” device. I’m a big fan of the phone’s nutrition-tracking platform, but there are better dedicated devices and apps available if you want to quantify your life. The Galaxy S5 also gives you the option to capture 4K video, but those files are massive and you probably don’t have a 75” screen where you can see them in all their glory. The Galaxy S5 is a really solid Android 4.4 device, but it doesn’t have the metal case, killer speakers or better camera found in the HTC One M8. The S5 wins the plastic phone with a removable back contest, but if you’re an Android person and your “camera” is your primary “smartphone,” the HTC One M8 is the current leader of the pack.
