Analyst: Apple to Launch 65-Inch TV By Late 2014

Speculation on Apple’s new offerings is in high gear ahead of the company’s product event Tuesday. A Tokyo analyst has added to the tumult with a bold forecast for Apple’s first television set. Ultra-high definition Apple TVs with 65- and 55-inch frameless screens are likely to go on sale by end-2014, Advanced Research Japan analyst Masahiko Ishino said in a phone interview, amid market queries on how far along Apple’s TV plans may be. He added the TVs will likely sell at about $1,500 to $2,500 each. Mr. Ishino’s comments are a rarity in Japan. The country is home to dozens of iPad and iPhone parts suppliers whose executives invariably fall silent when asked about Apple. His expectations join a flurry of rumors over the past year that have ranged from Siri and iSight features on Apple’s TV  to the uninspiring name “Apple iPanel,” floated by a Jefferies & Co. analyst.
