Shelly Palmer Radio Report – June 14, 2013

Have you ever been walking down the street, saw something you just had to have in a shop’s window only to find out that store is closed for the day? Bummer, right? Thanks to eBay’s “shoppable windows,” that may never happen again. Over the next few weeks in busy parts of New York City, eBay is installing four screens – virtual stores that they’ve dubbed shoppable windows – that will start by selling 30 items from Kate Spade Saturday and will expand to include other retailers in the future. These windows measure about 9 feet wide by 2 feet high and will appear on the front windows of closed stores. See something you like? Tap the screen to make an order and have your goods delivered within an hour via courier. eBay’s shoppable windows open a whole new world of mobile commerce, letting stores sell items it normally wouldn’t have the shelf space for and do so during hours it might not be open. Happy shopping!
