Microsoft just unleashed Windows 8 on the public, which means corporate IT guys are tearing their hair out right about now. Windows 8 is unlike any other Windows operating system, as it’s designed for the portable device market, which Microsoft also dove into headfirst today with the launch of its Surface tablet. There are a lot of things to like about Windows 8, but right now it’s buggy and I think people are going to have a hard time adapting to it. I fear it’s more like Windows Vista than the better and smoother Windows 7. This is a radical change for the desktop, but I think it’s a change for the better. I think people are going to make the switch, but I think they’re not going to do it unless they go kicking and screaming. This is what we have to get used to, as Microsoft goes for the portable, post-PC market. Get ready: the future of Microsoft begins today.
