Apple was recently successful in banning the sale of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab in the majority of the European Union. The injunction claims that Samsung is blatantly copying the iPad and now the company has set its sights on Motorola’s Xoom. Apple is knee deep in patent warfare. In other news, the NYPD recently announced that it created a task force to troll social media sites for clues of criminal activity in the real world. The police bet that if you’re dumb enough to commit a crime, you might just post about it on Facebook. And finally, Visa is trying to move towards new card technology where embedded computer chips make it nearly impossible to counterfeit. The hard part is convincing merchants to install the more secure card readers. Security has a cost, but no one wants to pay for it.
