Walmart recently announced that it would offer streaming video rentals through its website. The company partnered with the video-on-demand service VUDU that will provide access to thousands of titles, including new releases. Standard definition rentals are $3.99 and streaming in high-definition glory will run you $5.99 a movie. In other news, a new survey by the Pew Research Center found that 71% of adults use video-sharing sites. Parents are the largest group of users, with 81% reporting they visit sites like YouTube. The amount of people visiting video-sharing sites is up 38 points since 2006. And finally, people aren’t just watching online videos on their computers. A new report found that YouTube videos are responsible for 22% of all mobile bandwidth being used. It’s no surprise that wireless carriers are ramping up 4G network capabilities, as video streaming now accounts for 39% of all mobile traffic
