The statement was in response to France and the UK passing laws that ban violators of copyright law from the web. The UN also called for all countries to refrain from cutting off the Internet during political unrest. In other news, the National Academies Press is making 4,000 books and reports free for download. PDFs from the fields of science, engineering and medicine can be found at nap.edu. The organization hopes that by publishing this content, developing countries can have better access to quality information. And finally, scientists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research successfully trapped antimatter for nearly 17 minutes. The unstable matter was only previously seen for a fraction of seconds and could help scientists better understand the existence of matter.
