Holiday shoppers hoping to buy gifts last minute may have lost out by overloading the web. Last night a series of high profile sites, including Amazon, were hit with massive traffic that crashed a host of popular retailers and web service providers. While a potential UltraDNS issue hurt Amazon, Walmart.com, Salesforce.com and Netflix also crashed.

The city of San Francisco and the state of Maine are may put warning labels on mobile phones. The labels would act like labels on cigarettes, noting that the device mat emit radiation that could cause cancer. While cell phone transmissions causing cancer has been an issue since handsets first hit the market, indisputable evidence either way has yet to be found.

The web is buzzing with more rumors about the Apple Tablet. The Financial Times now says that Apple may unveil the new device during a conference in San Francisco on January 26th. An early entry to the market place could make the Apple Tablet an even bigger phenomenon in 2010 than is already predicted.
