Giroptic 360cam Smallest HD Consumer Spherical Camera System

by Digital Dan Dubno

Headworn-displays are driving the need for more fully immersive 360-degree video and still content. At CES 2016, Giroptic introduced a tiny water-resistant 360 camera platform that records spherical video at 2K and photographs at 4K.  The onboard processor instantly seams the imagery together removing the need for additional software or post-processing.  The battery base is robustly designed for videographers out for adventure: so you can use the camera when going to the beach or install the system as an outdoor home surveillance camera.  Giroptic calls the 360cam  “VR ready” and claims that content can be played back on any screen or device without processing.  This new release retails at $490.
