TiVo Says President Yudkovitz Resigns

TiVo

As you know, Marty Yudkovitz is the Vice-chariman of the Advanced Media Technology Emmy Awards.  The cut and paste from Reuters follows.  In other TiVo news the company is launching an SDK (software development kit) for third party developers.  What does that mean to you?  Lots of new home-brew and third party TiVo-centric software, downloads, gadgets and the like.

NEW YORK – TiVo Inc., a developer of television recording technology, on Tuesday said President Marty Yudkovitz resigned, only weeks after Chairman Michael Ramsay said he would step down as chief executive.

In a statement, Yudkovitz said he wanted to spend more time with his family. He will stay with TiVo for a time in a consulting capacity.

Yudkovitz, a television industry veteran who was key in the creation of cable news networks CNBC and MSNBC as well as MSNBC.com, was brought in 2003 by TiVo to build closer ties with major TV players.

At that time TiVo was seen as needing to offer TiVo through partnerships with satellite and cable companies in order to boost subscriptions to its fee-based digital video recorder (DVR) service.

More recently, TiVo has steered its growth strategy toward consumers who buy the TiVo set-top box on their own and has suggested that its future does not hinge on new deals with cable or satellite providers.
